PAYMENTS

Most clients prefer to pay out of pocket for Counseling Services

The Do's and Dont's for why you may want to pay out of pocket.

The most important involves confidentiality and personal control of your services. You may prefer this as well if:

  1. You Do want to have access to your professional partner whenever you feel the need, even during "off hours;"

  2. You Do value your emotional health and the life-long benefits of living without anxiety, reducing the effects of depression or creating positive relationships;

  3. You do not want to be labeled with a psychiatric diagnosis (Unfortunately, some therapists will provide a dubious diagnosis in order to receive reimbursement. This is both unethical and illegal, and can hardly be the basis for a therapeutic relationship of trust.);

  4. You do not want that diagnosis of "mental illness" to follow you throughout your insured life, possibly affecting the cost of your coverage or even your ability to acquire coverage for health or disability at a later time;

  5. You Do want your personal history to remain confidential (since your therapist is no longer responsible for confidentiality once it is in the hands of untold numbers of insurance workers);

  6. You Do want to choose your own therapist rather than one from a list of names contracted with the insurance company;

  7. You Do want treatment decisions, such as treatment plan and number of sessions, to be made privately by the two of us, not by a third party.

If you decide to use insurance instead, there are some cruical points to consider for your privacy and continued care:

  1. Have you met your deductible?

  2. Does it cover mental health?

  3. Are there limits on what diagnoses it will cover?

  4. Are there restrictions on who can be included in therapy (i.e., no  family/couples therapy, only individual, life partners)?

  5. How many total sessions do they allow?

  6. What is your co-pay or co-insurance obligation per session after deductible is met?

As we begin accepting more insurance plans we will add them to our approved list.

A defining feature of a concierge practice is that not only are you able to achieve maximum privacy by maintaining total control of your record (other than what is required by HIPPA laws), who and how often you can visit your professional partner, but also payment is directly to Holistic Mental Health Services. Holistic Mental Health Services does accept a few insurance plans however, not all. That said, many insurance companies provide what are called out-of-network benefits which allow you to be reimbursed directly for services rendered. Please contact your insurance company directly to see if these benefits are part of your plan.

If you use an insurance plan that Holistic Mental Health Services Inc accepts, payment will be submitted for reimbursement directly to the individual insurance company.

If you have a Health Savings Account (HSA), Flexible Spending Arrengement (FSA) Medical Savings Account (MSA) or Health Reimbursemenet Arrangement (HRA) you are able to pay for therapy or consulatation services from any of those accounts and it is tax deductible.
