Who's a Good Momma Bear?

In family therapy, one of the top questions posed is, "Am I [parenting] the right way?" My response is, if you are concerned about how well you are doing, you are definitely on the right track. As much as we would love to have a tell-all parenting book, there is no one way to parent. No two snowflakes are alike, just as no two children are alike. What are some of the things that you should focus on when parenting?

C- consistency

U- unconditional love

B- boundaries

S- safety

So, where do you start? Honestly, I tell every parent to start with themselves. Good parenting first involves loving yourself enough so that you can love those around you. Think of yourself as a full cup. Imagine pouring a little of your water to quench the thirst of those that you love. Imagine never taking the time to replenish your water. After a while of pouring yourself into others you eventually run out. So start practicing being an expert for your C.U.B.S., then let your Momma Bear shine through and share it with your little bears. apply the C.U.B.S. principle to caring for yourself. I bring this point to the forefront because most times we end up feeling like a failure in our child rearing because we just aren't focusing on our C.U.B.S. We usually lose focus on C.U.B.S. because we have not taken the time to care for our self. After, finding that daily (at least 5 minutes) "ME" time then you can parent with your C.U.B.S. and be an AMAZING Momma Bear. Who's the best Momma Bear?... YOU ARE!
